"What dreams may come"

It's the name of a movie I watched for the second time today :) It is quite close to Buddhism on many points.
A couple are losing their children in a car crash. Then the husband pass away; and finds himself in a kind of "dream-like" reality, where he will meet different beings, and even come close to hell. They mention also reincarnation clearly at one point. And explain how much our reality is production of our mind (at least in this after life reality).
Quite nice movie. With Robin Williams. I… Continue

Holidays & samsara

I was wondering why we call "holiday" the time we usually dedicate to our ego and senses?
Being at this moment in Greece (a place I like very much, I must say) we can see the explosion of egos under all its aspects! On the beaches, streets, shops, etc. It is very sad to see people obssessed by... themselves only! Food, luxury, desires, fashion, all so superficial aspects of life, unleashed and exposed. Good meditation about the samsara.

I was talking this evening with a man, very nice person, b… Continue

No more newsfeed from those criticising His Holiness

We decided to remove the feeding news from buddhistchannel, because they are giving voice to the practitionners of the forbidden deity Shugden, spreading their message agains His Holiness throughout the net. If His Holiness the Dalaï-Lama is requesting to stop this practice, there are reasons, even if we don't always understand them; though His Holiness has explained already these reasons.
I respect and have faith in His Holiness. Therefore, I follow His advises. And do not really appreciate tho… Continue

Signature of an agreement with State

It was very nice to finally have the opportunity to sign this agreement with the Government of Slovenia. I think it is unique in Europe that a Buddhist Congregation did sign such agreement with a State.
If it doesn't change anything in our daily life routine, it is an auspicious symbol, and i hope it will help Buddhism to develop more quickly roots in Westerns countries.

Tibetan prayers fashion CDs

I've been given today a CD called "White Tara", by Sarah Patterson, "Tibetan and irish prayers". Sounds promising. And I must admit that the music is rather nice. But... why people who want to chant Tibetan do not check their pronunciation of that language?! The pronunciation isn't correct, but sounds so like "westerner beginner". So, out of which kind of pride or blindness one does record oneself without to be certain to have a good pronunciation of the language we want to pray into? Better in… Continue

Would you mind me asking why you became a layman, after being so highly ordained?

-------------------------------------
When times are changing, circumstances not the same as before, there is the need to adapt to be able to pass on the depth of our message. Since years already, we did put efforts to adapt the way Buddhism is presented, to be more easily understood and accepted in our Western societies.
There is one step more I have decided to implemen… Continue
